How to put your music on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube
Artists don't upload tracks straight into the Spotify or Apple Music catalog: the route is a distributor, or a record company's distribution setup, which delivers the recording and the release data to each platform.
With Eventroo, a single upload can reach these and other services enabled on your account.
Create your Eventroo account and submit your release.
Why you need a distributor
The music catalogs of Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music receive releases through distributors, which take care of the technical format, the metadata and each track's identifiers. The distributor also receives the platforms' revenue reports and passes the money on.
For the full process, see the guide how to distribute music to digital platforms.
Step by step to release on the platforms
Step 1: Create your account
Sign up on the Eventroo platform.
Step 2: Prepare the release
Final audio, artwork and complete, consistent metadata.
Step 3: Check the artist profiles
Use official artist identifiers when available and check the spelling of every name.
Step 4: Pick the date
Submit at least 7 days in advance; for pitching, earlier.
Step 5: Review and delivery
Eventroo reviews the release and sends it to the enabled platforms.
Step 6: Publication
Each platform processes in its own time; the music may go live at different times on each one.
Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube: what to check on each
Spotify
The release appears on the artist profile given in the metadata. Check the profile before submitting: artists with the same name may need fixing later.
Apple Music
Receives the same release with the same metadata. Identical spelling, artists and credits avoid duplicate versions.
YouTube
The track can get its own page with the release credits. Content ID and channel management depend on account eligibility.
Delivery reaches the platforms enabled on the account and compatible with the content, territory and rights.
Mistakes that delay a release
- The artist linked to the wrong profile because of someone with the same name.
- Several names grouped in a single artist field.
- Artwork with a third party's brand, character or photo used without permission.
- Audio with clipping, cuts or the wrong master.
- A date set at the last minute, with no time for corrections.
- Buying streams or followers: it can lead to lost royalties and penalties.
Once the music is live
Follow performance in Eventroo's reports and, when needed, in each platform's official dashboards. Numbers can differ between sources because of periods, time zones and methodology.
Revenue appears after each platform closes and reports the period. To compete for playlist spots, present the release through pitching well in advance.
Frequently asked questions about releasing on Spotify and other platforms
Can I send my music straight to Spotify?
Spotify's catalog receives releases from distributors or from record companies' distribution setups. With Eventroo, you set up the release on the platform and it is delivered to the platforms enabled on the account.
How long until my music shows up?
There is no single timeline: it depends on the review and each platform's processing. As good practice, submit at least 7 days in advance.
My music showed up on another artist's profile. What now?
This usually happens with artists who share a name. Use official artist identifiers when available and check profiles before submitting; if it has already happened, contact support with the link, ISRC and UPC.
Does Eventroo guarantee playlist placement?
No. Eventroo does not guarantee editorial placement, playlist position, stream counts or commercial results. Pitching presents the release for consideration.
How much is a stream worth?
There is no universal rate. Payment depends on the platform, territory, user plan, advertising, currency and period.
Can I use Content ID on YouTube?
It depends on eligibility: you need sufficient rights and, as a rule, exclusivity over the material used as a reference.
